ABOUT IMBOLC STUDIO

Isabel McLeish photographed by Iain Turnbull

Sitting between the winter solstice and the spring equinox, Imbolc is the Gaelic festival that marks the beginning of spring. As a turning point in the year, it is a time of renewal - the planting of new seeds and the return of the light.

The artist behind Imbolc Studio is Isabel McLeish, a visual and socially engaged artist based in the Scottish Highlands. Her practice explores our innate connection to nature and is informed by personal experiences of immersion in landscape, the cultural heritage and ecology of the Highlands and Islands, and the rhythms and cycles intrinsic to the planet.

Through Imbolc Studio, this work reflects an ongoing attention to seasonal change, place, and our relationship with the natural world.
